Valentino’s Restaurant, Heathmont

3 out of 5

Nice food, nice staff and not expensive.

Will probably go again.

4 out of 5

Anyone contemplating going on a diet should make this bar their last stop. The food portions are enormous !

We went there for a late weekday lunch, after the rush. The place was clean and the service friendly. You get a buzzer for when your order is ready and collect yourself.

Themed as an english style pub there is a large range of english beers as well as local. Obviously the former are expensive but that’s to be expected. There was plenty of space, the upper floor was closed, but I should imagine on evenings and weekends it gets pretty chokka, especially when there’s live music.

Would I go again ? Yes, but probably order one meal between two. After this visit I didn’t need to eat again until the next day!

a (true) christmas tale

Some years ago my uncle died and my aunt fell on hard times.  To help her out I let her move into my late mother’s house, rent-free.
Before this we hadn’t been real close but now I got introduced to her circle of friends: this is Joe, Mary, Pete, Eileen, Bill, etc.  A lot of new […]

tv ads

Despite their denials we all know that many tv ads come across at greater volume than the programme you are watching.
How nice it would be to be invited to a Channel whatever cocktail party and corner on of these tv ad men/women.  You could then hold an interesting conversation by SHOUTING IN THEIR FACE FROM […]

spelling police

I seriously recommend trying Mozilla Firefox to all Nooksters.  It is a replacement for IE6 or 7 (Internet Explorer), whichever you are using.  You can download Firefox for free from the Mozilla website and have it’s icon on your desktop together with IEn.  Just click on whichever one you wish to surf with.  I’ve only […]

out there, somewhere

Anyone who doesn’t believe in a parallel universe should have a look at Singing Bee.
I love to sing but…..these people come from somewhere else.
OK , I watch too much tv, but you try cuddling hannah and say these guys are normal.

Are these the signs of an obsessive possessive ?

I don’t care.  Hannah deserves better.

xmas invite

By the time this post appears it should already be December so how about a virtual xmas party for all nooksters ?
What would you wear and what gift would you give to your fellow nooskters ? (I don’t mind abstract suggestions but lets keep it friendly and leave out things like “a sense of humour” […]

interest rates

I’m no financial guru but it seems to me that using interest rates to control inflation is a pretty blunt tool.
Raise the interest rate and people with mortgages pay more but also:
The value of the dollar increases, exports become more expensive and imports become cheaper.
So, whilst trying to slow growth they’ve actually made cars, white goods, […]

who do you trust ?

Who do you trust to drive you mad repeating the same @#%*@*& advert every ten minutes til you’re sick of it ?
I know who gets my vote.

saving water

Just two small things.
If you take a bucket into the shower, remember to take it out again afterwards !
And is it OK to linger longer to make sure the bucket’s full ?
