Nook - Worst site ever

Topical posts are at least six months old, current post are never replied to - perhaps because they don’t appear for days.  And if you do reply that doesn’t appear for days either.

I can’t be sure this will ever appear but there’s always the hope that someone, somewhere out there will hear the call.  Please.

I agree, its pretty bad these days. I don’t know why we bother anymore!

i sent off an email to administrator’s week’s ago asking that they ‘come clean’ - either they run this as a competent professional outfit, or they close. Whichever, the public should be informed. If it’s a matter of staff, then either employ them, or close the site down. Having postings and comments sitting there for nearly four weeks before they get online is not on. Many of the issues are ‘current’ and hence require constant and immediate feedback and publication. Often, by they time they get online, the ‘horse has bolted’ so to speak. So come on nook - tell us the truth. Are you going to run this as a proper professional outfit, or not? If not, then we need to know so we can make arrangements to go elsewhere - there are countless other blog sites.

I agree. And I propose a solution. See how Nook appears in one strip down the middle of your browser with two big grey sides with nothing in them? How about they actually pay more people to run Nook or fix whatever is wrong with it, and just put a few ads on the empty side bits to fund it? I know it’s like “selling out”, but if it’s a chance for more local businesses to advertise to a local audience, and it gets Nook working better, I figure everyone wins.

I also Agree. Nook is getting worse. I check in ever now and then to see whats happening, and I can say not much is happening.

Eventually the administration gets there. I suppose there is no revenue raised from providing this facility so why should they not leave it until there is nothing better to do?

I must admit I had high hopes initially that it could be a vital tool of communication between like minded people, but I’ve come to the realisation that it can’t be relied upon and therefore is like an accessory….Not essential but nice to have!

Thanks for all the comments guys but it still aint workin’.

I’m surprised the post appeared at all. As I write the featured post is still 7 months old !

Its a real shame, an innovative use of the internet, which could have been developed into a useful social tool, will die on the vine because of shortsightedness and, dare I say it, lack of financial acumen.

I’ve really enjoyed chatting with my virtual friends but…………….

    Never say die, hey.

Well, not much good said about it, that’s for sure! I agree Lady - it certainly looks like there’s room for some advertising, if local organisations wanted to do it and more revenue was raised so that it could be staffed effectively it would be a much more lively place instead of being almost stifled to a halt. I sent of an enquiry a little while ago too and haven’t had a peep back. I wonder if there is anyone out there?

Yeah, hi all, its been ages since I’ve visited, because I was just sick and tired of posts not clearing. Old posts up all the time. It is badly managed, and I laugh because they actually slightly advertise this site in the leader ! How many frustrated readers have tried to post and been disillusioned by the negative response.??? It was nice for me to see the familiar names above though, wish we had the nook running even a little bit like it used to at least someone cleared the posts in their lunchhour back then.
