spelling police

I seriously recommend trying Mozilla Firefox to all Nooksters.  It is a replacement for IE6 or 7 (Internet Explorer), whichever you are using.  You can download Firefox for free from the Mozilla website and have it’s icon on your desktop together with IEn.  Just click on whichever one you wish to surf with.  I’ve only been using it for a few days but a couple of instant advantages are:

It will ask if you want to store passwords as you use them.  Not always appropriate but can save time on sites such as Nook etc.

It performs basic spellchecking as you type, underlining suspect words in red (hence the title).  So if you are worried about appearances, you no longer have to prepare in Word and cut and past into your Nook post.

Because Firefox is open source and not owned by Microsoft it means that the world and his dog can write add-ons.  And they do.

One of these is an English dictionary which when added makes the simple spellcheck look as sophisticated as the spellchecker in Word and offering the option to add new words, such as Nookster.

I’m still experimenting with Firefox but at the moment it looks pretty good.

I’ve always had it, so its second nature to me. Hope you feel comfy with it soon.

Yes winnie, I realise I’m years off the pace with this one. I had heard of it a long time ago but never investigated. Then, one rainy afternoon trolling around CNET.com (great site btw) looking for GPS boxes and then downloads and the rest, as they say, is history.

So easy to download and get up and running should’ve tried it long ago. I see Firefox 3 is at beta 1 stage. Anyone brave enough to try it yet ?
