I trust the ABC they I don’t have ads. Will have to look out for the ad now though so I know who it is that has got your hackles up hg
Both of them!!!!!!!
the greens are so quiet - I really really like them …
oops, how dumb am I, so it’s an election ad, shows how much notice I take, which side is it for.
Much as us clever people would love a party that refused to waste money advertising in the media (like in Man of the Year), unfortunately many people are, to be honest, stupid. They will vote for whoever is most familiar, or attractive, or young, or old, or well spoken, or whatever, regardless of their party’s policies.
It is actually proven that if something is very familiar to them, people are more likely to choose it over something less familiar, unless they know a reason why not to. And many, many people don’t have time, energy, money or the inclination to find out why they should or shouldn’t vote for a particular party or pollie. Hence the pointless, repetitive ads doing nothing more than drilling a political brand name into one’s consciousness.
On a completely unrelated note: VOTE KEVIN 07!
I’m with grumpyoldman and gadfly. Both indicate profound conclusions have been arrived after saturation point. I just wish we could have an election DAY and get on with it….this election period seems to have been at least six month. vivavoce, you’d have to be dead to miss it!
Lady C, even if less than half the population is “stupid” then constant repetition is akin to brainwashing. Such manipulation would be illegal in other professions.
I agree, mary w, it takes far too long. If the parties haven’t got their message across in the last four years then they haven’t been doing their jobs. Notice of a new election should be reduced to two weeks. That should sharpen up their acts a bit.
Actually, viva, the ad got so far up my nose it caused a mental block. I think it was Labor but was too busy changing channels.
Like so many ads, if you really don’t like it then it becomes counter-productive, encouraging you to actually go out of your way to buy the alternative product!
mary, I checked my pulse just in case, but it was still there…..I’m very good at zoning out though if I think things are not worthy of my time or can’t afford me any amusement.
I must say, I am sick of all those moving bill boards advertising each party……..what an utter waste of money.
