dead man walking

It seems, if all the opinion polls are right, that John Howard, the consummate politician, will be ditched by the electorate for all the wrong reasons.  Elected in ‘96 and subsequently re-elected three times - he must be doing something right.  But now he stands to be ousted by a relatively inexperienced newcomer who espouses every popular cause in order to be - well, popular.  A man who only got his present job because his three predecessors were so totally incompetent but despite this fact were voted in as party leaders anyway.  What does this say of the judgement of the ALP?

And what about Peter Costello, the poor guy must be spewing.  After waiting patiently in  the wings for little Johnny to hand over the reins (as promised ?) he could now be watching his lifelong ambition thwarted and find his only claim to fame will be Leader of the Opposition.

C’mon guys, Vote for Howard.  Who would you rather have as your next PM, Krudd or Petey Boy ?

Sad thing is, 80% of the population, are pretty thick.

Next sad thing is, that same 80% of population also votes.

Final sad thing is, oppositions don’t win elections, governments loose them- usualy for silly reasons.

Sorry shadow, I cannot agree with your first premise.

As for the second, I think all people should vote, unless they are clinically insane.

    And lastly, I agree.

I’m aware of the 80/20 rule but it should not be used so bluntly and, frankly, I’m surprised at your tone.

Are 80% of nook readers pretty thick too ?

Perhaps you would like to elaborate or maybe retract ?

hannahsgranpa. Ubergrumpy old man with no sense of humour. Cultured, gifted and infinitely modest. My philosophy, like colour television, is all there in black and white. Life's too short to be serious.
