Diehard

Saw Diehard 4.0 at the weekend.  My opinion, don’t bother.  The plot is ridiculous; a disillusioned security expert decides to teach US national security a lesson by recruiting a team of hackers, whom he subsequently wipes out with professional hit-men, and hacking into everything:  traffic management, stock exchange, tv& radio - all simualtaneously.  The action is much less believable than previous, i.e. taking out a gun-toting baddie in a chopper by driving over a fire hydrant so the resulting water spout washes him out.  huh ?

Above average marks for Justin Long, the computer geek, and Mary Winstead, McClane’s daughter.  Below average for everyone else, especially Brucie.

If it wasn’t for the language I’d say it was a kids movie.  it certainly lacks any sophistication to be considered as a serious adult movie.  Compared to Bourne, this is cheap trashy nonsense.

Awww come on, it was a piece of fluff. It was not meant to be taken seriously. Pure escapism! Saw twice and laughed through the action bits.

Its not MacBeth now is it.

I would only expect it to be corny crap, but would probably watch on dvd.
