Dawkins, again ?
Published 1 year, 5 months ago in My life.Apologies to ozwebfx but his post was getting slightly buried. Having watched the second installment of Root Of All Evil I was amazed and alarmed at the widespread rejection of the theory of evolution. Apparently huge numbers of people still believe, and worse, still teach, that the world is only 5,000 years old ! I find this incredible. There is so much evidence to suggest otherwise that it defies both logic and common sense.
We can actually see the effects of evolution around us. The average height of both men and women in the civilised world has increased quite substantially, resulting in world records for swimming and athletics being broken several times a year. Yes, training methods and diet also affect performance, but the overarching phenomena is height. There is even talk of lengthening cricket pitches, tennis courts etc. in order to make the dimensions more relative to our increased height.
But this is only one example. Do these people really believe that the dinosaurs did not exist for millions of years ? How cracked is that ?
What do you believe in: Evolution or Creation (and no sitting on the fence) ?

Evolution.
Some of those people on the show were soooo scary, The Hell Housers in particular are extremely offensive. I can’t believe in a civilised world these mentally defective idiots are allowed anywhere near children.
THUD, THUD, THUD, sound of head banging against brick wall!
Dinosaurs were on Noah’s Ark:
Like many modern museums, the newest US tourist attraction includes some awesome exhibits, including roaring dinosaurs and a life-sized ship.
But only at the Creation Museum in Kentucky do the dinosaurs sail on the ship - Noah’s Ark, to be precise.
The Christian creators of the sprawling museum, unveiled on Saturday, hope to draw as many as half a million people each year to their state-of-the-art project, which depicts the Bible’s first book, Genesis, as literal truth.
While the $US27 million museum near Cincinnati has drawn snickers from media and condemnation from US scientists, those who believe God created the heavens and the Earth in six days about 6,000 years ago say their views are finally being represented.
“What we’ve done here is to give people an opportunity to hear information that is not readily available … to challenge them that really you can believe the Bible’s history,” said Ken Ham, president of the group Answers in Genesis, which founded the museum.
Exhibits show the Grand Canyon took just days to form during Noah’s flood, dinosaurs coexisted with humans and had a place on Noah’s Ark, and Cain married his sister to people the earth, among other Biblical wonders.
Scientists, secularists and moderate Christians have pledged to protest the museum’s public opening on Monday. An aeroplane trailing a “Thou Shalt Not Lie” banner buzzed overhead during the museum’s opening news conference.
Opponents argue that children who see the exhibits will be confused when they learn in school that the universe is 14 billion years old rather than 6,000.
“Teachers don’t deserve a student coming into class saying ‘Gee Mrs. Brown, I went to this fancy museum and it said you’re teaching me a lie,’” Dr Eugenie Scott, executive director of the National Centre for Science Education, told reporters before the museum opened.
A Gallup poll last year showed almost half of Americans believe that humans did not evolve but were created by God in their present form within the last 10,000 years.
Three of 10 Republican presidential candidates said in a recent debate that they did not believe in evolution.
The evidence for evolution is overwhelming.
you would have to be a fool to try and deny it , it is entrenched in modern biology and medicine.
evolution is very simply a convergence of many many different sciences, all of which give the same indications.
THUD, THUD, THUD .. seems to just about sum it all up!
Not only do animals evolve but the other end of the scale bacteria is constantly evolving. Reproducing by the billions it is not unusual than mutations will appear in the tens of thousands. The vast majority of these mutations offer no advantages but once in a while a mutation will occur that is of benefit (to bacteria, naturally). For example, a bacterium with a resistance to penicillin such as we find in Golden Staph. In a relatively short while this strain will become dominant simply because it can survive where other strains cannot, survival of the fittest. The next mutation, a bacterium that can survive the high temperatures of an autoclave is already with us. This means that sterilisation is ineffective.
Flu jabs are another example. Last year’s is no longer valid because in all probability the flu virus has, over time, mutated into another strain.
This is evolution on a minute scale with enormous consequences. To pretend evolution does not occur would be disastrous to the human race.
If you want to see evolution in practice look at the cane toad! Its legs have grown to over double their original length and it’s body size has nearly doubled, and it’s just through the exercise of hopping all over the northern states Heaven? help us if it gets much bigger. Those who believe in creationism must also subscribe to the Flat Earth Society! The fact the museum is in Kentucky, Hillbilly land, must be a clue to the mentality.
